Foothills Farm & Apiary will be offering an Advanced Queen Rearing and Cell Builder Workshop hosted by Hidden Happiness Bee Farm in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
This workshop is intended for beekeepers who want to learn more about producing their own queens and improving their success with grafting and cell building. Participants will learn how queen cells are produced and how colonies can be managed to support strong cell builder systems.
Instruction will include discussion as well as demonstrations in the bee yard using live colonies.
Topics Covered
The workshop will cover a range of topics related to queen production, including:
• Larval selection and grafting techniques
• Building and managing cell builder colonies
• Starter and finisher colony setups
• Timing and handling of queen cells
• Colony strength and nutrition for queen production
• Improving graft acceptance

What to Bring
Participants should bring their own protective gear, including a suit or jacket, veil, and gloves. A notebook is also recommended.
Live colonies will be used during the workshop.
Tickets
Attendance will be limited in order to keep the class manageable and allow time for questions and demonstrations.
